If you read last week’s ‘Why I Watched…Fruits Basket’ and came back hoping for another deeply personal post about an anime that changed my life…I’m sorry. Sometimes I just want to write about why I like a thing.
Last week I wrote about vague story ideas I’ve never seen in anime before. This week, I wanted to look at existing stories that would make for great anime adaptations.
‘Fruits Basket’ is a show I’ve shared with friends, partners, and strangers on the Internet. There are moments when just a note from the background music has me close to tears.
We get fooled into thinking that certain shows are the pinnacle of the anime industry, that they must be masterpieces in order to be so long-running and popular.
‘Sarazanmai’ continues to surprise, ‘One Punch Man’ continues to confuse, and ‘Fruits Basket’ continues to leave me weeping like a child.
I know that, lately, I’ve been all ‘fandom yay!’ But sometimes, we all need a chance to vent.
One Punch Man has a problem this season, and it’s not the animation.
